Google defines geocaching as “the recreational activity of hunting for and finding a hidden object by means of GPS coordinates posted on a website”. They’ll contain sign-in books and usually some exchange of common, random and sometimes bazaar trinkets & things. We just call it fun.

Get started by downloading a free app for your GPS enabled smartphone (or use a GPS device) and start packing your day bag. There are quite a few free apps available, but we’re recommending geocaching.com right now as it’s very intuitive, works with iPhones and Android, and they have lots of active geocachers searching & logging caches. Whether you’re exploring the Salmon Valley, Idaho area for the 1st time or the 100th time, there are thousands of new places to find right along our beautiful scenic highways & byways.
